What challenges did you come across in getting to where you are at today?

My parents have been with me through all of the challenges in my life and my career. They sacrificed everything in order for me to be standing here today – we even moved multiple times so that I could have better opportunities. My parents believed in me before I believed in myself. They believed in me before I could even imagine what my future might hold.

What drives you to get up in the morning and go training every day?

The competition is what drives me. There is nothing quite like the feeling of being in contention on Sunday, and despite all of the pressure and nerves, pulling out a win.

What motivates you the most about your profession as an athlete?

My daughter, Emery, is my greatest motivation. I so badly want her to be there to see me win one day, and to show her that she is capable of achieving her dreams.

What are your strengths as both an athlete and a person?

I believe that my positive attitude is my greatest strength both on and off the course.

Is there another athlete you mentored or helped train? Describe what you did for them.

I am very involved with the First Tee of St. Petersburg. It is an honor and a privilege to encourage young kids and help them achieve their goals.

What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?

The best advice I have received is to never give up. Although it is short and simple, this positive mantra has encouraged me in some of the toughest moments in my career.

What do you look for in a great coach?

While I don’t have a coach, my caddy and my husband help me fine-tune my game.

Tell us your current personal bests in various events.

I have won eight LPGA Tour events, two of which were majors. I have also played on the U.S. Solheim Cup team six times.

How important is an athlete's public image?

An athlete’s public image is very important. It is important to remember where you came from and stay true to who you are. I hope to be remembered as someone that encouraged and inspired the next generation of young golfers.

What are your preferred pre-tournament, locker room and post-tournament routines?

I go to the range one hour before my tee time and hit balls. Next, I work on chip shots from the bunker, and finally I will work on putting. I do not have a post-round routine but will work on something specific if needed.

What do you believe is the greatest challenge most athletes are facing today?

The competition across all sports is growing increasingly fiercer. It’s not enough to be good anymore – you have to be great. I believe the difference is made by working hard and putting in the time.
